Técio Spínola Gomes

Time and clarity for civil and business matters.

I am an attorney and Private Law professor at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). I take on cases that require study, strategy, and attention to practical consequences.

My legal education began at the Federal University of Bahia School of Law, where I graduated in 2011, including a period of study at the University of Coimbra. I later earned a master's degree at UFBA and a Ph.D. in Private Law at the University of São Paulo (USP).

The university remains at the center of my professional life. At UFBA, I teach Private Law, Real Estate Law, and Roman Law. I advise students and conduct research on contracts, arbitration, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and emerging technologies. I lead the Law, Technology, and Innovation research group (DIT/UFBA) and serve as faculty advisor to UFBA's Innovation and Digital Rights Laboratory (LABID²).

I work as an attorney and legal consultant in civil and business matters. My practice includes contracts, civil liability, corporate transactions, real estate, and wealth and estate planning, in sectors such as healthcare, agribusiness, construction, and technology.

I select the cases I take on so that I can give each one personal, hands-on attention. This way of working preserves the time needed to study documents, examine the finer details, write legal opinions, and keep pace with the way business decisions unfold.

In arbitration, I have experience as counsel, arbitrator, and presiding arbitrator. I am a listed arbitrator with CCMA-ACB and CAMAGRO. I serve as Vice President of the Special Arbitration Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association, Bahia Chapter (OAB/BA), and was a co-founder of the Bahia Arbitration Institute (IARB), where I serve as Director of Events.

I have a special interest in the points where Private Law meets new problems. I try to understand each legal institution from its historical origins and follow how it adapts to changing times. I like to think about law without losing sight of the person who needs a concrete solution.

A Personal Note

Outside the office and the classroom, I skydive. The sport demands preparation, discipline, and respect for risk. Those same three things also guide the way I work.
